Mouse Review
NZXT Avatar
The NZXT Avatar might be a newcomer to the world of top end gaming mice but its a competitor. First of all it looks slick, a bonus when you're dropping a bunch of money on a mouse. What we really want to know though is... how does it perform? This mouse is like the Kate Moss of peripherals. Well... Maybe not that skinny but it's pretty narrow.
I've used fat logitch mice for the last 5 years. So at this point I'm pretty much used to morbidly obese mice. It was awkward at first and I didn't want to like it... but I kept playing and noticed some thing. This mouse wasn't raping my wrist. The MX518 and SideWinder always wore on my wrist during long sessions.
If you grip your mouse hard while aiming (like me) the Avatars shape keeps you from straining your wrist too much. The NZXT Avatar gets big bonus points in the ergonomics department. The avatar is also symmetrical. The only thing I don't like about this mouse physically is a button on the right side, its easy to accidentally click. Would prefer to have two thumb buttons on the left instead.
Whats the NZXT Avatar like in game? Smooth. The tracking is right on. It has four DPI settings, 600, 1200, 1800, and 2600. Not to mention a polling rate of up to 1000Hz. Needless to say it will be hard to blame a missed shot on the Avatar.
The NZXT Avatar also comes with intuitive and easy to figure out drivers. With 7 programmable buttons the Avatar easily meets our needs for key binds. Ive killed a lot of noobs with many different mice.... this one is just took my #1 spot. If you need a top end mouse and can give yourself time to get used to it the Avatar is the way to go.
