Computer Memory Finder
Is it time to upgrade, looking for a memory finder? The bane of being a PC gamer is the inevitable hardware upgrade. Every year games get more complex and better looking. These things take up memory and that means you have to upgrade to stay afloat. There are tons of RAM manufactures to choose from. That's great news for us! All this competition between RAM makers means you can get some incredibly great deals on memory. A computer memory upgrade has the best cost/performance ratio. A little bit more memory can mean big gains in game.
Memory Finder - What is RAM?
RAM is an acronym for "Random Access Memory". Its a quick and dirty chunk of fast temporary memory. Temporary because it focuses on what ever application your computer is running at a specific time. For example if you load up ProGaming-Tips.com then that gets loaded onto your ram so you PC can quickly access it. If you then load up CoD4 then CoD4 will be loaded into your ram instead of the web page. Some games take more memory than others. Since every game you play is essentially played off RAM its important to have a good amount at a fast speed.
Memory Finder - Lag
So what happens when you play a game that takes up more RAM than your PC has? Well... lets just hope your house has fire insurance... (Kidding!). Well your CPU needs memory to function. If it runs out of RAM it will set aside a part of your hard drive as RAM and use that. The problem with that is your HD is much slower than real memory. When your computer does this its called Swapping. If your computer starts swapping in game because of low memory it will cause video lag and loss of FPS (frames per second). So generally we would like to avoid that occurrence.
Memory Finder - How many Gigs?
Having enough memory in your RAM is crucial to a smooth gaming experience. So how much should get in a computer memory upgrade? That depends on a few things. With current prices if you are going to upgrade you should at least 2 GBs. Having more RAM is good but you don't want to go overboard. I wouldn't go higher than 4 GBs of ram. Most 32 bit operation systems cant handle more than 4 GBs. Shop around find some good computer memory and watch your score rise.
