L4D Tank Tips
Left 4 Dead Tank
Left 4 Dead tank guide. Are you or some one close to you a fail tank? Well I am here to bring your tank woes to an end my friend. The tank is a bad assed dude but some people dread having to play him. He takes some skill to play, the problem is gaining that experience.
Some times you can go a whole campaign without getting to play one. I'm going to not only give you some tips, but also show you how to gain some easy experience.
Left 4 Dead Tank Practice
Want to get some tank experience without raging your teammates? If you're playing on PC you can use this easy trick. First go into options, then Keyboard/Mouse and enable developer console. Now hit ~ to bring down your console.
Type in "map l4d_vs_hospital02_subway" this will load subway in versus mode. Once in bring down your console again and type "sv_cheats 1". If you start out on survivors bring down your console and type "kill" once you die you will start playing as infected (don't use the switch team option or the map will end).
Now the survivors should be all holed up in their little safe room. After a minute the door gaurd bar will pop even though it stays shut. Bring down your console once again and this time type "z_spawn tank" now the fun starts.... Once the door guard is off a tank can smash through it. Once the door is gone your bots will start playing through the map, and you get to practice you're tank. If you get raped just spawn in more with "z_spawn tank".
L4D Tank Movement
Tanks in Left 4 Dead are big easy targets. Because of this you have to keep moving, at least make the other team work for its damage. Tanks have about 6,000 health but that can get run down in 20 seconds if it sits still and takes every bullet.
L4D Target Prediction
Part of good movement is prediction. Figure out where your target wants to go and beat them there. Smart survivors can out run a tank if they play it right. So you have to be a smart tank to pick them off.
Tank Cover
Any tank worth its weight in beefcake must make good use of cover. Running in a straight line at survivors usually leads to a quick death. Use any thing you can to dodge bullets...
Cars
Trucks
Overhangs
Walls
Pillars
Trees
Train cars
Take any thing you can find for cover and put your tank ass behind it.
L4D Tank Movement
Never ever stop moving. Even if you get some one pinned in a corner. Chances are their whole team is unloading on you from behind so keep up a left and right strafe while punching that asshole.
Left 4 Dead Tank Target Selection
Choose your target wisely. Low health players go down faster so keep your eyes pealed for people with red or orange auras. Never never ever ever hit a survivor pinned but a hunter or smoker. Doing so will kill your team mate and free the survivor.
Tank Attacks
Once you catch up to a survivor you have two attacks to choose from. You can punch or throw rocks at them.
Rocks Bad
Stay away from the rock attack. Most of the time this attack is useless. It takes a few seconds to preform and makes you an easy target.
Left 4 Dead Tank Punch Timing
That only leaves us with the tank punch. Thats all we need because it kicks massive ass. The punch deals 25 each hit. Theres a trick to this attack because its not instant. Theres a 1 second delay between when you click and when the punch hits. Because of this you have to either lead your target or punch a second early.
Punchable Objects Left 4 Dead Tank
Tank punches also have another bonus. You can use it to knock around big objects. Any piece scenery that has a red aura can be punched and sent flying. If you can hit a survivor with one its an instant incap.
Fire Bad
If you're going to be effective as a tank you need to avoid molotovs. Always hit tab to see if any one holds a molotov. If they have some ask your team mates to handle those players for you.
Left 4 Dead Tank Teamwork
Teamwork is the most important factor of a successful tank. One tank and 3 special infected are more than enough to end the survivors run. Its a good idea to hold off attacking the survivors until all 3 of your team mates are spawned in. Boomers are the tanks best friend. If you make a distraction and get an opening for a boomer to make hits it totally screws the survivors. Take your time and hit them together.
L4D Tank Parking
There are many gay spots to counter tanks. Don't fall for them. If you see all four survivors sitting in a nook all huddled together its bad news for you. If they are hiding in spot that requires you to crouch, forget about hitting them straight on.
The tank gets caught up in crouch spots and is easy to rape. you do have a few options. See if you can punch them through the wall. The tanks fist can clip about 2 feet through walls. See if you can get a smoker to pull one out. If all else fails park the tank instead of heading straight in.
Parking the tank just means running away from the survivors and leaving it in key spot until the rage meter runs out. After two people take control it will go idle and the computer will control him. Theres a few advantages to doing this.
It forces the survivors to leave their spot. It also give you the number advantage. 1 tank and 4 special infected versus 4 survivors. Spawn in between the survivors and their spot so they cant get back there and gay the tank.
